D7-Passive Imcome

PORTUGAL D7 VISA- PASSIVE INCOME

The Portugal Passive Income Visa, also known as the D7 Visa, is a residence permit program launched by the Portuguese government in 2007.

This visa is designed for individuals who earn passive income—such as rental earnings, royalties, dividends, or interest from financial investments—without actively engaging in work. It’s tailored for non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens who rely on income sources like pensions, real estate, intellectual property, or transferable equity, rather than a traditional salary. The goal is to attract retirees and others with passive income to live in Portugal, contributing to the country’s economy.

While the visa primarily targets those with passive income, it also allows holders to take on professional activities while living in Portugal, making it appealing to a broader range of applicants.

To qualify, applicants must demonstrate a minimum annual income of EUR 10,500 which matches Portugal’s minimum wage. For a spouse or partner, an additional 50% of that amount (EUR 5,250 per year) is required, and for each dependent child, 30% (EUR 3,150 per year). These financial requirements apply to all applicants, regardless of their country of origin.

Additionally, the D7 Visa offers the opportunity to include immediate family members through Family Reunification, allowing the entire family to benefit from the visa.
